“I chose UWFox because of its proximity to my home and my family. Also, you can’t beat the cost of tuition.”
Hometown and current residence: Appleton, WI
Current program: Undecided
Background before UWFox
Before enrolling in UWFox in the spring of 2012 I was home schooled. I worked at a goat farm and a grocery store, and participated in martial arts in my free time. I feel my home school experience really helped me academically prepare for my higher education experience at UWFox.
Why did you choose UWFox?
I chose UWFox because of its proximity to my home and my family. Also, you can’t beat the cost of tuition.
Have you chosen a major?
I’m currently undecided on a major, but I’m in the process of learning Chinese and digging deeper into psychology. So perhaps my future career could be in either of those areas. Whatever it is, it needs to be fun, interactive and challenging.
Who is your favorite professor and why?
Michael McFall’s philosophy class always ends in interesting conversations. Bill Gillard’s creative writing class is also a favorite; it hardly feels like a class.
How do you like to spend your free time?
I’m the treasurer of the UW-Fox Valley Student Association, so I spend time helping to allocate fees for student clubs. I also sit on the editorial board for Cyclones Muse, the student literary magazine. I tutor in the Writing Pad, which provides one-to-one writing support to UWFox students.
What advice can you give to incoming students?
Get involved early on, and make sure you put in the effort it takes to excel in your classes!
